X-FAB Texas at a glance
In 1999, X-FAB Texas became part of the X-FAB group. As a former Texas Instruments site, it has a long tradition in manufacturing microelectronics. Today, it is leading X-FAB into the new era of wide bandgap semiconductor manufacturing by being the industry’s first company to offer foundry services for silicon carbide on 6-inch wafers.
X-FAB is the first pure-play foundry to provide comprehensive processing technologies for the wide-bandgap material silicon carbide (SiC) and X-FAB Texas is also called the high volume SiC fab, because it is the first foundry offering first 6-inch SiC. X-FAB Texas joined the X-FAB group on February 1, 1999. Currently the site is averaging over 19,000 wafer starts/month (Production and Engineering). X-FAB Texas has a total of 400 employees.
The focus is on the production of 6-inch wafers in the CMOS area as well as SiC technologies. Currently, the following functions are located at the site: Finance & controlling, human resources (HR), information technology (IT), operations (including Engineering & Fertigung), procurement, quality, sales & marketing, supply chain, technology.
